Power rationing in China
In an attempt to improve energy efficiency and also to promote a more positive image as a “green” country, China began its policy of power rationing. The link below is an article from the New York Times last month detailing the Chinese government’s power rationing plan.
Even though the title of the article is about the closing of 2,000 factories, starting from the middle of the report, the article indicates the Chinese government's desire and goal to improve energy efficiency. This goal has resulted in recent announcements to force factories to reduce energy usage by limiting the electricity that can be consumed in many provinces. While China may be improving the image of its energy use, many parts of its economy have been severely impacted.
